Crouch End
Working here N8

Crouch End is where we are based, so this is the area we know street by street. The housing stock is largely late-Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis, which means solid walls, original timber sash windows and roof structures that were never designed for the loft rooms people now want in them. Most of our work here is rear extensions onto long back gardens, loft conversions with rear dormers, and full refurbishments of houses that have not been touched since the eighties.

What to know locally

Building in Crouch End, specifically.

Conservation areas

Large parts of Crouch End sit within conservation areas, which removes permitted development rights for some alterations. Front elevations, roof changes visible from the street and window replacements usually need consent. We check the designation before quoting rather than after.

Party wall agreements

Almost every terrace and semi here shares a wall, so extensions, chimney removals and loft steels normally trigger the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. Notices need serving two months before work starts, so we raise it at the first visit.

Parking and skips

The controlled parking zone covers most streets off the Broadway. We arrange Haringey skip permits and suspend bays where needed, and we tell you upfront what that adds to the cost.

Victorian roof structures

Original cut roofs convert well, but many properties here have had cheaper trussed replacements that need more structural work. We look in the loft before pricing, not after.
